šŸ”„ Crazy Things You Can Do with AI (That You Probably Haven’t Tried Yet)

You’ve seen ChatGPT write posts and summarize stuff. But here’s some wild things you probably didn’t know it could do…

šŸ“Œ 1. Turn Any URL into a Downloadable QR Code

Want to generate a QR code on the fly? Just ask ChatGPT to turn a link into a downloadable PNG. Boom — now you’ve got a QR code you can drop into a presentation, social post, or product insert. Goodbye scammy QR code generators.

šŸ–¼ļø 2. Compress Images Without Losing Quality

I uploaded this 25MB photo (from when I won 2nd place at the BDSS summit in Iceland šŸ‡®šŸ‡ø)...

Image 1 – BEFORE

IMAGE 1 - BEFORE

Then I asked ChatGPT to reduce the file size. Here’s what it gave me back at just
185 KB. That’s a 135x reduction. Go ahead and compare the two. It’s a pretty amazing compression algorithm.

šŸŽžļø 3. Create a GIF from Scratch (Or from Anything)

I had ChatGPT generate four images in sequence:

  1. Woman on a yellow background holding a strawberry ice cream

  2. She looks like she's about to eat it

  3. She’s enjoying the ice cream

  4. She looks up, smiling, fully satisfied šŸ˜‹

Then I asked it to combine them into a single GIF.

✨ Voila! An animated story in seconds.

You can also upload 4 of your own images and ask it to make a GIF. Easy.

šŸŽ„ 4. Convert an MP4 Clip to a GIF

I uploaded a video and asked:

ā€œCan you convert the first 5 seconds of this MP4 into a GIF?ā€

And just like that — done.
No more fiddling with EZGIF or random online tools.

This is just scratching the surface. AI isn’t just smart — it’s creative, visual, and incredibly useful. Had you tried any of these cool tricks?

Native AI Comes to Google Sheets!

Google just introduced a new =AI() function inside Sheets—built-in, formula-style, and powered by Gemini, as part of their Google Workspace Labs Alpha.

No extensions. No AppScript. Just pure, natural language prompting right inside a cell.

You can now:

  • Summarize large blocks of text directly in the spreadsheet

  • Run sentiment analysis across survey responses

  • Generate personalized messages at scale—pulling context from multiple columns

  • Translate content with more nuance than traditional formulas

  • Categorize open-ended fields to accelerate analysis

Unlike most AI tools, this one scales.

You’re not generating one response at a time—you can create a single formula that affects an entire range.

Just enter the formula, drag it down, and hit Generate and Insert. You can even Refresh and Insert to regenerate across all rows in one go.

Watch this useful demo:

If you don’t see the =AI() function yet (as I am), your Google domain admin will need to sign up for Workspace Labs to enable it. Eventually Google will enable it for all.

Battle of the Automation Platforms: Zapier, Make, n8n

A lot of people have been asking me which automation platform they should invest time in—Zapier, Make, or n8n. And I get it. The automation landscape isn’t what it was even a year ago.

I wanted to explain the difference clearly, because these tools are evolving fast. What used to be simple "if this, then that" logic is now giving way to AI-infused workflows that can reason, adapt, and execute complex sequences with context.

Here’s a fact-checked breakdown of the major players shaping automation in 2025—and how to think about choosing the right one for your stack.

Zapier – Back in the Game

Zapier’s no-code simplicity made it the first automation tool for many teams. With Claude integration, Zapier now allows users to add language-based logic directly within its interface, making workflows smarter and more adaptive14.

  • Easiest to use

  • Ideal for non-technical teams

  • Claude adds basic reasoning to workflows

How it works:
Zapier lets you set up triggers (like a chatbot button click or form submission) and actions (such as sending a message via Claude). You can customize these actions, and even manage multiple chatbots through a single Claude instance14. Zapier remains the automation platform of choice for a majority of Forbes Cloud 100 companies, with most users able to set up a workflow in under six minutes14.

Make (formerly Integromat) – Now with AI Agents

Make has long been the power-user’s platform, offering a visual interface with branching logic, looping, and robust API support. In April 2025, Make launched AI Agents—modular, autonomous components that can pursue goals, interpret context, and dynamically decide next steps2.

  • Visual, flexible, and highly customizable

  • Excellent for e-commerce ops and data-heavy flows

  • AI Agents unlock outcome-based, intelligent automations

AI Agents:
These agents use large language models to reason and act within defined contexts, allowing users to focus on what needs to be done rather than how to do it. They can analyze sentiment, categorize text, and process data—all natively, without needing external AI services2. This shift enables more goal-oriented, less process-heavy automation.

n8n – Built for Engineers

n8n is an open-source platform that you can self-host, offering the deepest customization and control. It’s designed for those with development skills or technical teams56.

  • Fully self-hosted and extensible

  • Supports complex logic and custom functions

  • Best for security-focused or dev-led organizations

Key Features:
n8n provides a visual workflow builder, supports over 400 integrations, and allows custom code (JavaScript/Python) within workflows56. Its ā€œswitchā€ node acts as a decision hub, enabling dynamic routing and advanced logic3. n8n is favored by businesses prioritizing data privacy, scalability, and open-source flexibility56.

The Role of MCP (Model Context Protocol)

A major development is the Model Context Protocol (MCP)—a technical standard that governs how large language models like Claude interact with external tools, APIs, and data sources. MCP enables models to dynamically access and reason over structured data, trigger actions, and return responses in real time. This infrastructure is what powers next-gen, agentic AI automation, making assistants not just responsive, but capable of executing, querying, and adapting on the fly.
