Amazon’s AI-Powered Homepage: Just in Time for Holiday Shopping—What Sellers Need to Watch

Amazon’s newly redesigned homepage, powered by advanced AI features, lands just as holiday shopping ramps up. With enhanced features that make shopping easier and more personalized, customers are expected to experience a smoother journey through tailored product recommendations and a Window Display showcasing curated items based on their preferences.

This is expected to streamline holiday shopping, as customers can more easily browse items aligned with their past purchases and interests.

For sellers, however, this shift signals potential changes in visibility strategies. With new AI algorithms personalizing product displays, traditional keyword-based tactics may not yield the same results, especially with Rufus, Amazon’s AI shopping assistant, now enabling users to ask detailed questions and filter results according to specific needs.

This disrupts the typical pathways by which products rank, prioritizing AI-selected items based on individual shopping histories and preferences.

The Buy Again hub encourages repeat purchases of previously bought items, which could limit organic discoverability for new or smaller brands looking to break through the competition.

This could be a critical factor, especially during the holiday season when attracting new customers is key. Unfortunately this could mean that ranking keywords will require more spend, so be prepared!

How to prepare for an age of AI-based recommendations?

  • Make sure your images are ready for RUFUS/COSMO

  • Take the help of AI to improve your listings for your ideal avatar

  • Maximize the coverage of use-cases, FAQs and ideal avatars in your listing, since this is what AI models will use as their baseline

  • Be prepared for the eventual and inevitable shift from keyword based advertising to audience and behavior-based targeting through product targeting/views remarketing and audience targeting ads.

Have a bunch of variations and want to quickly replicate your images in different colors? You can either use a professional software like Adobe which btw, is hard and inaccessible for most people. Alternatively, you can use of of the AI tools within Canva and get something like done this fairly quickly.

This is how you do it:

  • Take an original photo

  • Click on Edit

  • Look for a tool called Magic Edit. It looks like this:

  • Select the object you want to replace the color of

  • Type a prompt: “Change the color to blue”

  • Select the version you like and you’re done!

Claude Anthropic allows you to build simple apps in minutes. Moreover, it shows you a preview of the app (called Artifacts). Artifacts appear in a separate window next to your chat, giving you a clearer view of things like code, graphics, and documents. Instead of scrolling through chat messages, you get a dedicated space to see and interact with visual content - whether it's a working application, an interactive diagram, or a complete document. It's like having a second screen that focuses purely on the content you need to work with.

Here is a step-by-step use case to build a simple app.

Let’s say you have a global team that works in different time zones and you often want to check what the time is in their time zone. If this is something you do multiple times, you can just create an app and bookmark it away - SUCH a time saver! You can ask Claude Anthropic to create a simple app with just a few sentences. Here’s my prompt

I would like to create a Team Time Zone converter app that will tell me the time of my team members in real time. It should work by simply opening the HTML file in any browser Make it pretty

Claude instantly gives me HTML code that I simply download and run locally on my computer by double clicking on it. And voila! This is a real time clock of all of my team members (names obfuscated). It does not require any deployment

One of my favorite ways to integrate AI into my daily operations is by uploading screenshots, raw data, or large files directly to ChatGPT. This allows me to get immediate, platform-specific insights and formatting help. For example, when working with bulk product listings on Amazon, I’ll upload incomplete spreadsheets and ask ChatGPT to clean, validate, and optimize the data for platform compliance. This is particularly valuable when updating keywords or attributes at scale—saving time while ensuring the details are error-free and formatted to Amazon’s exacting requirements.

There are other highly practical use cases where sellers can incorporate this strategy. If you're launching new products, upload your listing drafts—including titles, bullet points, and descriptions—and have AI analyze them against top competitors, generating keyword-rich improvements. Or, when troubleshooting customer service issues, upload customer communications and ask for recommendations on crafting the ideal response—whether that’s addressing negative reviews or providing follow-up messages that enhance customer experience.

The key is simple: develop the habit of leveraging AI daily, treating it as an extension of your team. Whenever you hit a snag, think of AI as your go-to assistant—ready to jump in, format files, refine listings, and provide actionable insights.

The more consistently you use AI to solve these direct challenges, the more agile and effective your business will become. This habit isn't just transformative—it’s the difference between keeping up and pulling ahead in the e-commerce race.”
